You all know who Ruby is...right?

Now I hope you know who she is....she was 715 lbs now has lost over 200 lbs.  She is on the Style network if you get that channel.  Anyway I read her blog for inspiration.  Here is an excerpt:

Obesity is an addiction!!! I fight with this every single day of my life.
I wish it was as simple as dieting/eating healthy & exercising! IT IS NOT!

When OPRAH asked me the question
"WHAT ARE YOU REALLY HUNGRY FOR?"
THE INTERVIEW:
A LIGHT BULB WENT OFF IN MY HEAD LIKE NEVER BEFORE:

We have to find out what we are really feeding emotionally, mentally, spiritually through the food, drugs and alcohol etc...

What is your drug of choice?
For the morbidly obese and the anorexic its food!
For the drug addict it is drugs!
For the alcoholic it is alcohol!
For the smoker it is tobacco!
The addiction list goes on!

Now lets look at the similarities?
They all are feeding something into our bodies.
They all feel good at the moment and give temporary pleasure.
They all help us NOT to exist for a period of time.
They can all be genetic.
They take CONTROl over every part of us destroying present and future relationships, families, and cause financial problems, etc..
They destroy us and kill our spirits and then eventually kills us.
They usually begin from something traumatic happening to us in life.

The list goes on, but my point is that these are definitely the same and we are all fighting to beat our addiction.

The drug for the food addict is the easiest to access. Our drug of choice is always within our reach!

We are in the fight for our life! We will not crumble and die. We will continue to fight this and win daily! Please do not worry about tomorrow take this beast face to face one day at a time.

This speaks volumes to me...hope it helps you too.

I have had a few addictions over the years that God has fought to free me from.
So what they feed is different...but real in my mind nonetheless.
It is so easy for us to play like we have it all together...everybody does in one way or the other. But until we surrender those areas to God....one addiction will just rotate around to another. I have found this true in my life.
So glad He has promised to NOT stop working on me until He has perfected me. No lost causes in His hands. He loves us so!
